Please note, there are actually a few Cascade Falls in California, so don't get confused when researching the trail! This one is in Fairfax, which is in Marin County.
This Cascade Trail in California will lead to two waterfalls. The hike isn't too long, only about 1-2 miles depending on which route you take.
The trail is full of beautiful nature and scenery and is undoubtedly one of the best waterfall hikes near San Francisco.
There's not too much of an elevation gain on this trail, so it's a good option for those with kids. However, it is considered moderately challenging due to the variety of terrain you'll encounter.
Like many waterfalls, these cascades vary in intensity depending on the season and what the weather's been like.
The best time to view them at peak strength is in the spring or after a heavy rainfall.
Even when the falls are dried up, however, this is a beautiful hike that is definitely worth the adventure.
Note that this is quite the popular hike, so you'll want to arrive early in the morning! The parking area can get crowded.
