One of the best things about growing up in the 20th century was spending summer days exploring the woods, scrambling over downed tree trunks, jumping in the creek, and scouting for wild blueberries. Oh, that first tiny bite was the best. If you're like me and a fan of getting out in the woods, exploring a bit, and picking blueberries, earmark an hour or two to follow this wild blueberry trail in Wakefield, Rhode Island. Your adventure might bring back some of those sweet summer memories of yesteryear.

Bull Head Pond via Yellow, Red, and Green Loop Trail promises some pretty awe-inspiring scenery all year round, but if you're on the hunt for wild blueberries, plan a visit during the summer.

Before you set off, make sure you have everything you need - sunscreen in the warmer months, plenty of water, and bug spray (the bugs can be overwhelming sometimes) - for your trek along this nearly three-mile trail in Wakefield, Rhode Island.

While the trail has some challenges, including roots jutting out of the ground, and downed tree limbs, it still earns an easy rating, so bring the kiddos and your leashed pup along.

Be prepared for some elevation changes, too.
