This Is The Newest State Park In Rhode Island And It’s Incredible

Rhode Island might be a small state, but it is filled with gorgeous natural attractions. From state beaches to parks; you'll simply never run out of fantastic outdoorsy activities. Being that it is the second most densely populated state (second only to New Jersey) new open space catering to the general public is not a common event. There simply isn't much open space left! Somehow, this fantastic park managed to open just a few years back and has been a wonderful place to visit since.

Rocky Point State Park is a gorgeous state park located at 33 Rocky Point Avenue in the city of Warwick.

The park officially opened on October 25th, 2014 and has been gaining attention since!

Not only does it offer lovely scenic views, it also commemorates the former Amusement Park that once occupied the land.

Rocky Point Amusement Park operated as one New England's most beloved amusement parks from 1840 until 1996 when it officially filed for bankruptcy.

Though much of the memorabilia and equipment was auctioned off, the land stood abandoned with many remnants left decaying until the area was officially repurposed as a park.

A few reminders of our state's beloved old amusement park still linger and the park is still a great place to visit to remember our fond childhood memories.
