You don't need a whole lot of time - a little more than an hour, maybe - for your journey along the Browning Woods Trail in South Kingstown.
Browning Woods features a small parking lot with enough space for six vehicles.
With a moderate rating, the 3.2-mile dog-friendly trail can get quite busy at times but is still described as quiet and peaceful by hikers.
Before you set off on this picturesque path, make sure you're prepared to face some of the slight challenges ahead. Good, sturdy hiking shoes are a must.
Your biggest challenge on this pretty path - which includes fairy tale stepping stones - will likely be tree roots jutting up from the ground and muddy conditions at times.
Keep an eye out for rocks, too, that might cause you to stumble.
If you're lucky, the only others you'll pass on the trail are wildlife, giving you a bit of solitude.
One of the highlights of the Rhode Island trail is the ruins of the abandoned Browning Homestead, which previously belonged to the Browning family for 10 generations.
You'll also come across the ruins of a cellar.
The kid-friendly trail also features some informational placards, so you can learn more about the plants along the path.
No matter when you visit, you'll be treated to pretty scenery and peace and quiet. Some hikers recommend stopping by after a recent snowfall.
