9 Reasons No One In Their Right Mind Visits Pittsburgh In The Winter
Pittsburgh in the winter is humorously described as a place to avoid due to its drab weather and lack of activities.
So, you're sitting around contemplating what to do this winter. Aha! You've got it. A trip to Pittsburgh. That's the ticket, right? Well, um, you might want to think that out a little better. Pittsburgh in the wintertime? Do you know what you're getting yourself into? Keep reading to discover the nine reasons no one in their right mind visits Pittsburgh in the wintertime.
(Disclaimer: Of course, all this is said tongue-in-cheek. We love the Burgh just as much as you do!)
1. It’s downright blah.
Really, Pittsburgh is just so utterly drab and grey in the winter. Who wants to spend time outside in that kind of weather?
2. All that dirty snow is just so, well, gross.
Ugh. All that dirty snow. How many days until spring again?
3. What will you do here?
And...it's so, so, so boring in the winter. There's really nothing to do, with Pittsburghers all holed up in their homes, marking the days off of the calendar until spring.
4. It is so utterly boring with…
Outdoor activities are just non-existent in the Burgh in the winter. Such a shame, really.
5. Not. One. Thing. To. Do.
A weekend getaway in Pittsburgh in the wintertime? Surely you jest. Where would one go? What would one do?
6. The birds have flown away and…
The birds have the right idea, wouldn't you say? They've all fled the Burgh, in search of the warmer temps and the sunny skies of the south. Maybe we should do the same?
7. The wildlife has gone to sleep.
Hmm, that's not such a bad idea, is it? Let's hibernate. After all, what's the use of hiking in Pittsburgh's parks when the wildlife is no longer there?
8. When does baseball season start?
Take me out to the ballgame. Wintertime in Pittsburgh means a sports drought. If only there were other sports teams - maybe even winning teams - we could cheer on in the Burgh. Sigh.
9. Spring takes its good ole time returning.
Wintertime just drags on and on when there's nothing to do. Then, it seems like it takes spring forever to get here.
C'mon, play along! What are some tongue-in-cheek reasons no one in their right mind visits Pittsburgh in the wintertime? How about a trip down Memory Lane? Click here to read about the winter of '77.
