This Hidden Swimming Hole With A Sandy Beach In Pennsylvania Is A Stellar Summer Adventure
Tatman Run Beach in Pennsylvania offers a scenic and family-friendly spot for swimming and picnicking.
For a state that doesn’t sit along the ocean, we certainly have a lot of sandy beaches in Pennsylvania. While the smattering of sandy beaches at Presque Isle State Park in Erie may be the most well-known, we can find countless hidden gem beaches all throughout the state. For example, tucked along the southern part of Raystown Lake PA is Tatman Run Beach, one of our favorite swimming holes. This hidden oasis in Entriken may not be quite as well-known as others, but it’s more than worth a visit this summer.
Nestled in a cove off of Raystown Lake, Tatman Run Beach offers an idyllic setting for a day of soaking up the sun and swimming in the cool lake water.
Tatman Run Beach is open seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Hours are from dawn to dusk.
Although it’s rather small, the sandy beach promises plenty to do. Bring your beach towel or beach chair and umbrella and claim your spot on the sandy shore.
There’s also plenty of room on the grassy area behind the thin strip of sand to drop your towel or chair.
Swimmers of all ages are welcome to borrow a lifejacket from the Lifejacket Loaner Station. Lifejackets are free but must be returned when you are finished with them.
Tatman Run Beach features a variety of amenities, including a playground for the little ones. Don’t forget a Frisbee to toss around.
Consider bringing along everything you need for a picnic, too. Both picnic tables and grills are available. You can also reserve the picnic shelter.
After a leisurely day on the beach, head to the changing house. The beach also has restrooms with vault toilets.
