Nature's just the perfect place for us to recharge and to relax. While we usually don't have to travel far to find a quiet spot among nature in the city, we also have an abundance of natural spots to which we can escape in the surrounding areas. Sahli Nature Park near Pittsburgh, for example, beckons nature lovers, photographers, animal lovers, and anyone who just wants a little bit of alone time.
Just about 45 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, Sahli Nature Park provides a quiet oasis among the hustle and bustle of Beaver Falls.
The 90-acre nature park, which opened in 2012, offers a little bit of everything - walking trails, an abundance of wildlife, and spots to sit and relax.
You'll definitely want to stop by the butterfly nursery, or keep an eye out for the butterflies flitting around the lush park.
Bring your camera, so you can snap photos of other wildlife with whom you cross paths - red squirrels, ducks, and raccoons, for example.
Chances are you're going to want to take a ton of pictures of the fairy tale setting, too. A wooden footbridge, for example, connects two ponds.
Listen for the sound of the cascading waterfall that's even more beautiful after a rainfall.
You'll find numerous secluded spots - a gazebo and benches, for example - where you can sit back and reflect, take photos, draw, or just relax.
Once you visit Sahli Nature Park, you'll probably return again and again. It's definitely worth the drive to see it drenched in the colors of fall, capped in snow, blossoming in the spring, and in full bloom in the summer.
Explore Sahli Nature Park, open daily from dawn to dusk.
