We can all probably agree that Pennsylvania boasts a ton of gorgeous scenery, much of which we can admire in our own neighborhoods and by going for a drive on a scenic byway. Some of the most spectacular views, however, often require a bit of work on our part. Follow the Rock Scree and Ridge Overlook Trail in Pennsylvania for just a few of those jaw-dropping views.

You've got a few options when it comes to checking out the spectacular views at Kings Gap Environmental Center in Carlisle. Both provide pretty hefty challenges, depending on your experience.

Ridge Overlook Trail spans just .08 of a mile, but the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) rates it as difficult.

The trail is a straight shot to the overlook. However, you'll have to deal with some rough terrain on the path that's got quite a few boulders.

If you're up for a workout and some more views, you can also follow the Rock Scree Trail that leads to Ridge Overlook. The DCNR rates Rock Scree as more difficult while All Trails deems it moderate.

Take breaks along the way, relaxing on one of the benches that dot the path.

Just be prepared for elevation changes and a lot of rocks. Wear sturdy boots, too, and beware of loose rocks that might catch you off guard.

Whichever path you choose - the longer or the shorter - you'll be treated to gorgeous views any time of the year. Definitely consider also hiking the trail when the foliage is near or at its fall peak for breathtaking views.
