Chasing waterfalls is oh-so-easy and so much fun. Reaching Pennsylvania's dozens and dozens of waterfalls can be easy, requiring just a simple walk from the car. Or the trek can be challenging, requiring plenty of time and stamina. The Little Falls Trail, which leads to a beautiful but little-known waterfall in Pennsylvania, falls somewhere in between a short stroll and a challenging trek. We think it's one of the best trails in PA and definitely worth checking out if you've got an hour or two free.
Little Falls Trail winds 2.7 miles.
It goes through Promised Land State Park, taking you past an abundance of natural beauty. A few surprises wait along the way, too.
While the trail has earned an "easy" rating from AllTrails, you will face some rocky terrain.
Keep an eye out when you're walking for jutting tree roots along this stunning forested footpath, too.
Fortunately, the trail is predominately flat, making it easy for hikers of all ages and skill levels.
You'll still want to wear comfortable and sturdy shoes and stay well hydrated.
Cross a picturesque footbridge and along a tree-lined path...
... which provides an abundance of shade during the hot summer months.
Along the way you'll pass the cascading water of a dam.
It makdes the perfect spot for taking photos or sitting down for a breather.
However, the highlight of the trail is undoubtedly the Little Falls waterfall.
This beautiful Pennsylvania waterfall gently tumbles into a clear pool of water.
During your hike, keep an eye on the sky.
You might be lucky enough to spot one of the local bald eagles or other wildlife.
Little critters scurry along the path, too!
The trail can get really muddy, so you'll likely want to wear shoes that you don't mind getting dirty, especially if there is a rainy day.
Head over to the official website of Promised Land State Park for more information. You can find a trail map of Little Falls Trail on AllTrails.
