Some people embrace bone-chillingly frightening thrills, like those found in a haunted house or on the most terrifying roller coaster at an amusement park. Those of us who prefer something a bit calmer can find those take-your-breath-away moments on numerous hiking trails. Keystone College Trail in Pennsylvania features a suspension bridge that might just create knots in your stomach.
Winding just over three miles through a forested area near Dalton, Keystone College Trail is rated easy for hikers of all ages and all skill levels.
However, despite that easy rating, the loop trail is often quiet, and you might run into a few other hikers - or no one at all - on your trek.
The trail is drenched in natural beauty with wildflowers dotting the path in the warmer months and fall foliage painting the landscape in the fall.
You will have to climb up a set of old stairs, which can be tricky, so watch your step as you're going up. Keep an eye out for local wildlife - frogs, toads, and deer - too.
You'll even pass an old cemetery that's worth a look at.
The highlight of the trail, however, is arguably the suspension bridge, which is actually the start of the picturesque trail. If you're not a fan of heights, you might get a few butterflies.
If the trail is quiet, take your time as you cross the suspension bridge. After all, it's the perfect spot to drink in the scenery and to snap photos.
