Few People Know There’s A Unique Rock Formation Hidden Along The Balanced Rock Viewing Area In Pennsylvania

Balanced Rock Viewing Area in Pennsylvania offers a challenging yet beautiful hike featuring a unique rock formation and stunning natural scenery.

We're so fortunate to have access to so many natural wonders all across the state, including a unique rock formation we can admire from the Balanced Rock Viewing Area in Pennsylvania. The trek to this Pennsylvania natural wonder is short, sweet, and brimming with beauty - both natural and manmade. However, it is a bit of a challenge, so be prepared when you set off.

Discover a few natural wonders on your journey along the Balanced Rock Trail at Trough Creek State Park in James Creek, a popular year-round destination for outdoor lovers.

The half-mile trail is pretty quick to follow, although it's not compatible with strollers or wheelchairs.

While some hikers consider it easy, the trail does have its challenges - steep steps that lead to a gorgeous suspension bridge and rocky terrain at points.

However, you'll likely quickly forget those challenges when you first come across Rainbow Falls. Stop to admire the views and snap a few photos.

The highlight of the trail, however, is arguably Balanced Rock. It earned its name because the huge boulder looks like it might tip over and fall at any time. (Don't worry; it won't.)

Be mindful of the railings at the viewing area, as there's quite a big drop-off right by Balanced Rock.

You might want to look down, but don't get too close.

The viewing area also offers sensational views of the surrounding landscape.
