Ghosts of the past whisper throughout Gettysburg but none more than on the battlefield where the Battle of Gettysburg was fought. The epic Civil War battle, said to be the bloodiest in North American history, raged on from July 1-3, 1863. Today, the once bloody battlefield has given way to landmarks, memorials, and lush green countryside. Explore the past on this unforgettable horseback tour in Pennsylvania.
Horse Tours of Gettysburg allows visitors to explore the Gettysburg Battlefield on horseback.
The Confederate Trails of Gettysburg offers a 1.5 and a two hour tour. Both tours, ideal for riders of all skill levels, feature a Licensed Battlefield Guide.
Unfortunately, a Licensed Battlefield Guide may not always be available to lead tours. In those instances, horseback riders will listen to a recorded narrative by one of the Licensed Battlefield Guides.
Both tours give you an up close view of the sprawling countryside, now serene and lush with green, that once hosted the Battle of Gettysburg.
Highlights of the tour include the Virginia Monument, Trostle Farm (where the Union fought), and Spangler Farm.
You'll also enjoy sweeping views, from a distance, of Little Round Top and the Peach Orchard.
All riders must meet certain requirements. Only those 8 years and older and weighing less than 250 pounds will be allowed to participate.
All riders must wear close-toed shoes and long pants. Children between 8 and 17 must wear a helmet.
Advanced reservations for the horseback tours through Gettysburg are required. Click here for scheduled tours and to purchase tickets.
