It's spring in Oregon, and we're all feeling a little like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, emerging into a technicolor world after a whirlwind of winter (and, 2020). In Oregon, there's no sign of spring more beautiful than the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. And happily, this festival is back for 2021, offering peace, promise, and prismatic panoramas for all of Oregon to see. The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival will have over 40 acres of tulips in bloom this spring, making for the most wondrous way to celebrate the season.
Nestled in the Willamette Valley, basking in the majesty of Mount Hood, Woodburn, Oregon, is one of the most pristine places in the state.
Woodburn is also home to Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, 100 acres of extraordinary beauty.
The farm is best-known for its eponymous Tulip Festival, an annual event that's the first sign of spring in Oregon.
Each year, thousands flock to the farm to frolic through fields of luminous yellow and orange, radiant red, and deep purple.
The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival features over 40 acres of brightly colored blooms, offering a sublime sensory experience for visitors.
But sadly, in 2020, the farm was forced to cancel the famed festival.
While the farm offered a virtual drone tour of their tulip fields, spring in Oregon simply wasn't the same.
But it's 2021: a new year, with new possibilities.
And happily, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival has returned for 2021.
While this year's festival brings some changes -- most notably, the festival will be operating at a reduced capacity, and all tickets will need to be pre-purchased online -- the spirit remains the same.
Also, ticket prices have been increased this year, as a result of the hardship faced by this family farm in 2020.
If you purchased tickets to last year's event, those will be honored this year.
Wooden Shoe Farm even has a special Field Report feature on their website, so you can check on the flowers before you go.
And hot air ballon rides will be happening this year, too -- an absolutely sublime way to experience this spring splendor.
If you can visit in the early morning or late afternoon, you'll experience one of the most spectacular moments of all: the beautiful blooms backlit by the rising or setting sun.
It's almost spring in Oregon, so let's emerge and embrace the resplendence of the season. There's really no better way to do that than by attending the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival.
Have you been to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival before? Are you planning on checking it out this year? The 2021 Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival runs March 19-May 2, and all tickets must be pre-purchased online. Find more information about this year's festival, and Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, on their website.
