This Secluded Beach in Oregon Might Just Be Your New Favorite Swimming Spot

Sea stacks and tide pools, verdant green foliage, and sand dunes—that's the Oregon Coast. There are many beautiful beaches along Oregon's 363 miles of shoreline, each of which offers a little something special. And that brings us to this secret black sand beach in Oregon, the most special treasure of them all. Located within the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor, this secluded, secret beach in Oregon is absolutely breathtaking and sure to become your new favorite swimming spot!

The Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor is a 12-mile forested park filled with craggy bluffs, secluded beaches, and offshore rock formations to enjoy. It's easily one of the most scenic drives in Oregon.

It has a rugged, steep coastline dotted with picturesque, small sandy beaches that truly define the Oregon Coast. This area features all of Oregon’s coastal charms like turquoise waters, picturesque tide pools, jagged cliffs, towering Sitka spruce trees, and black basalt features. These views will make you fall in love with Oregon all over again.

Secret Beach is one of the corridor's numerous beaches, but as its name implies, finding this hidden gem isn't easy. This little oasis is nestled on the northernmost end of the corridor, and the easiest way to access it is via the Secret Beach Trail.

At approximately three miles round trip, the length of this hike isn't too challenging, but the terrain can be. You'll find the trailhead at the Arch Rock State Park Parking Lot. You will climb approximately 450 feet along your way, but some portions of the trail are certainly steeper than others, and you’ll want to watch your feet as there are large roots and rocks that can easily trip you. So, be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of nourishing beverages.

It may be a little more strenuous than your average beach walk, but we promise the payoff is worth it. Spectacular views like this are everywhere! Not only will you enjoy breathtaking views as you hike of the ocean, cliff, and shore, but the view while sitting on the beach is also spectacular.

It is definitely peak Oregon beauty. If you can get your timing right, this is an excellent spot to watch the sunset from! Plus, because it's a bit off the beaten path, this beach is rarely crowded and will feel like your own private corner of the Oregon Coast.
