Panorama Point In Oregon Leads To Panoramic Views Of The Southern Oregon Cascades

But there's a place in the southeastern part of the state that doesn't get as much attention as its east side brethren, and that's Panorama Point. Located in the gorgeous Jacksonville Woodlands, Panorama Point offers sweeping panoramic views of the Siskyou Mountains, historic downtown Jacksonville, and the Southern Oregon Cascades, including the rim of Crater Lake and Mount McLoughlin. This hike is a straightforward, 1.6-mile loop trail located within the Jacksonville Woodlands Historic Natural Park.

With this trail, the journey is just as gorgeous as the destination. Known to locals simply as the "Britt Trails," the Jacksonville Woodlands features 14 miles of interpretive trails open to both hikers and mountain bikers. But the Britt Canyon to Oregon Trail and Panorama Point is easily the most accessible and popular hike.

Along this short trail you'll find stands of young ponderosa pines, Pacific madrones, greenleaf manzanita, and Oregon white oak.

The trail has a fairy tale quality to it, with old wood bridges, babbling streams, and lush forest canopies.

Don't forget to stop and take in the beauty found along this trail. From frolicking fawns and fluttering butterflies to verdant green trees and winsome wildflowers, this is an extraordinarily beautiful hike in Oregon.

As you near the summit, the tree canopy will begin to open up, revealing bold, bright blue skies.

And then, of course, you'll find Panorama Point. At an elevation of 1,932 feet, you'll be able to see some of Oregon's most dazzling jewels: the Siskyou Mountains, the Southern Oregon Cascades, and, if conditions are right, the rim of Crater Lake and Mount McLoughlin.
