Every year, the gardens are transformed into a magical winter wonderland with over one million Christmas lights. As you stroll through the beautifully decorated gardens, you'll be greeted by festive carolers, the smell of toasted nuts, and maybe even some visitors from the North Pole. WIthout a doubt, this is the best winter hike in Oregon so don't let another holiday season pass without checking it out in person.
Make your holidays a little bit brighter with a trip to Christmas in the Garden. This event features one million twinkling Christmas lights.
Your walk begins with a stroll through the magical 100-foot candy cane tunnel.
Once you make it through, you'll find yourself transported to a magical winter wonderland.
The Rediscovery Forest is beautifully decorated with fun Pacific Northwest-themed light installations. Over the years, it's become one of the best things to do in winter in Oregon.
As you make your way through the forest, expect to find whimsical decorations around every corner. You may recognize this nine-foot tall leg lamp from the classic movie "A Christmas Story."

There's also an outdoor covered ice skating rink. You can lace up your skates and glide (or wobble) around the ice a few times.
The cozy fire pits scattered throughout the gardens are the perfect place to stop and warm up.
A variety of artisan vendors and food and drink booths are also stationed throughout the forest. They're inspired by traditional German Christmas markets and you can buy everything from holiday decorations to German Glühwein (hot spiced wine) here. Hot cocoa is also available for your little ones.
