Oklahoma is filled with an abundance of natural attractions waiting to be discovered. While many are well known and well visited, there are several that still remain under the radar. One such place is Osage Hills State Park in northeastern Oklahoma. Take a look at the photographs below, then gather the family together and plan a day trip to this big, secluded treasure that's full of outdoor experiences.
Osage Hills State Park was established in 1935 and was one of the seven original parks in Oklahoma. As one of the oldest state parks in Oklahoma, the park is full of mature trees, picturesque scenery, rolling hills, and rocky bluffs.
The park boasts over 1,100 acres of lush greenery, waterfalls, streams, bluffs, forests and natural beauty.
You'll find thick forests, rocky bluffs, and peaceful waters. Every turn you take is surrounded by natural beauty.
Lookout Lake is a scenic lake in the park that is the perfect place to go boating and fishing. Boats can be rented right there on the lake, so it's very convenient.
This lake is a secret gem and it's the perfect place to escape the city life.
There are five easy hiking trails in the park that ranges from 2 to 3.6 miles and from 738 to 944 feet above sea level.
Some of the trails will take you through forests...which is great if you're hiking on a sunny day.
There's also a hidden grotto that one of the trails will take you to. Plus, there is so much space to explore.
...including rock features, hilly terrains, and serene waters.
Right now the campgrounds are closed but when they open back up they have several campsites and cabins available for overnight rental.
