Cross A 90-Foot Swinging Bridge Over Big Creek At Girdled Road Reservation In Ohio

The best part about living in Ohio are all the hidden gems you find in our state parks, nature preserves and metro park systems. Girdled Road Reservation in Concord Township is home to beautiful trails, backcountry camping and a picturesque swinging bridge that's fun to find. If you love spending time in Ohio nature, this is one park you'll definitely want to explore.

A truly special park, Girdled Road Reservation has been a part of the Lake Metroparks system since the 1960s. It's designated as an Important Bird Area.

The park features lush forests, gorgeous wetlands and backcountry camping. The state-wide Buckeye Trail passes through the park.

You can visit the park year-round from 6 a.m. - 11 p.m. daily.

The trail stretches from the northern end of the park along Girdled Road all the way to Rt. 608 at the Big Creek Bridge (pictured).

If you want to start your journey near the bridge, it's best to park at the south entrance along Radcliffe Road.

The 90-ft. swinging bridge stretches across Big Creek, featuring beautiful views of the rushing water 15-ft. beneath.

The bridge was recently added to the trail a few years ago and has become a popular place to snap a photo or two.

Other amenities within the park include picnic shelters, a playground, flush restrooms, grills and camping by permit.

You can also enjoy fishing, geocaching, biking and birding at Girdled Road Reservation.

In the winter months, you can even go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, depending on trail conditions.
