The holiday season is holly jolly around Cleveland, but things get pretty magical further south in the state, too. Today, we're going to take you on a virtual road trip to a fantastic Ohio reindeer farm that is close enough to home for a day trip or weekend adventure. There's plenty to do, see, and eat in the area... just remember to bundle up, because this winter adventure is cool as can be! Check it out:
Today, we're going to take a road trip about 90 minutes outside of Cleveland to get into the holiday spirit... but don't worry, there is plenty to do in the area to keep you and your crew busy!
Pack road trip snacks and fuel up the car, because this trip is truly fun for the whole family.
On your way down to Bellville, you might want to stop at Der Dutchman.
Der Dutchman is a collective of shops, dining, and overnight stays wrapped up in one fun campus. Here, Amish-style cooking shines alongside gift shops that are filled to the brim with treasures.
Their comfort food buffet and the all-American menu will fuel up the whole family.
With breakfast, lunch, dinner, and kid-friendly options, there truly is something for everyone here.
Next up, you'll arrive at Kleerview Farm, a reindeer and tree farm that's downright magical.
Kleerview typically opens to the public around Thanksgiving, and it is a fun place to visit as the holiday season picks up. Hot cocoa and occasional appearances by Santa make it an extra special destination.
It's home to more than a dozen reindeer, who just might be Santa's own team! None of them have a glowing red nose, but hey... you never know.
The reindeer are also available to appear as guests at your holiday event if you have anything planned or want to keep them in mind for next year.
The only thing cuter than the reindeer are the babies, which are born on the farm.
The kids in particular will love these fun-size critters. They're just too precious!
The farm is a great place to select a live holiday tree, and they have all sorts of variety.
Whether you prefer spruce, fir, or pine, there's a tree that is perfect for you at this farm.
If you visit a bit later in the season, you'll find that the local landscape is made magical by the presence of snow.
This is outside of Cleveland's snowbelt, so it's a bit less than you might see back home. Nonetheless, this landscape becomes a winter wonderland with a bit of twinkling snow!
On your way home, you should definitely swing by Buckeye Express Diner for a unique dining experience.
If this looks like the inside of a train car to you, that may be because it is the inside of a train car. Buckeye Express is located inside an old train car that was brought into Ohio in 2008, and it is complete with a steam engine and caboose to add authenticity to the ambiance.
The menu here will delight even the pickiest of diners, and the unique atmosphere is one you won't forget.
Sandwiches, fries, burgers, and more make this a destination you won't want to pass up.
And, you might even consider wrapping up your trip with a visit to Snow Trails for some added family fun.
Snow Trails boasts the state's longest snow tubing run. It has fun for the whole family... just remember to bundle up for this wintry festivity! This is truly the perfect way to round out this road trip.
