Christmas Rocks State Nature Preserve trails are something that belongs on your outdoor bucket list.

Hiding in the small city of Lancaster, Christmas Rocks State Nature Preserve is a best-kept secret for locals.

You'll find it along Meister Road in Lancaster, Ohio.

Upon arrival, you'll want to check out the nearby Mink Hollow Covered Bridge. It's a great photo opportunity.

This historic bridge is a local landmark that was built in 1887.

The 4.5-mile Jacobs Ladder and Christmas Rocks Trail is a looped hike that leads to a stunning overlook.

Along the way, you'll encounter some unique rock formations, plants, and wildlife.

Please note: Pets are not permitted at the state nature preserve, so leave your furry friends at home this time.

The views at the top of Jacob's Ladder are downright breathtaking.

Due to the upward climb and steep overlooks, this is not a hike that's recommended for families with young children.

In the fall time, the colors are spectacular. You'll definitely want to come back in the autumn months.
