There are countless natural wonders in Ohio, and each offers a remarkable way to appreciate the Buckeye State's unique topography. Yet few people realize there's actually a natural arch hidden deep within Hocking Hills. Moreover, it's technically both a natural arch and a natural tunnel. Rock House is well-known as one of the most popular natural wonders in Ohio, but many people don't realize the extent of its significance. Here's more on the natural arch in Ohio you just have to see to believe.
Rock House isn't exactly a hidden gem. In fact, it's among the most popular hiking destinations in Hocking Hills.
What fewer people may have realized, though, is that it's the longest natural arch in Ohio.
The tunnel is situated midway up a 150-foot cliff made of Blackhand sandstone. The main corridor measures an impressive 200 feet long.
This protected landmark is a fascinating place to explore, whether you're interested in geology or hiking.
There are several different ways to get there, but the easiest route is a 0.8-mile loop rated as easy.
The trail is well-marked and well-maintained, taking visitors an average of 25 minutes or so to complete.
When you've reached the natural bridge and tunnel, be sure to take the time to really appreciate its rarity. It's the only natural arch in Ohio with a "gothic window."
Rock House is also unique in that it's the only true cave within the park. Needless to say, it's a bucket list destination in Ohio!
