The Stunning Sunrises At Badin Lake In North Carolina Are Worth Waking Up Early For

Badin Lake was created in 1917 when the Yadkin-Pee Dee River was dammed. With 115 miles of beautiful shoreline and warm waters in the summer, this lake is a truly wonderful place to spend the day...but an even better place to watch the sunrise!

Badin Lake is a favorite spot for fishing, hiking, camping, and hunting, but one of the best ways to explore this beautiful area is by kayak. There is a put in at the Old Whitney boat landing in New London, so grab a paddle (and a camera) and hit the water!

These photos were taken by Seth Myers during a morning paddle on Badin Lake. Although the fish weren’t biting, it’s easy to see why this sunrise was worth waking up early for!

Did you spot the heron watching the sunrise too?

Seth summed it up pretty perfectly: "Someone once asked about my favorite time of day. My response: watching the world wake up."

Thank you to Seth Myers for sharing these beautiful photos with us! To see more of his stunning shots, check out this collection from a relaxing float down the Uwharrie River!
