Rockefeller State Park Preserve is on land donated by the Rockefeller Family. This property was formerly the Pocantico Hills and Rockwood Hall country estates that belonged to John D. Rockefeller and William Rockefeller.

In 1983, the Rockefeller family began donating their land to New York State so it could be protected for future generations. A total of 1,771 acres was donated to make up this preserve.

The trails in this preserve are crushed stone carriage roads laid out by John D. Rockefeller and Jr. in the early 1900s. There are 45 miles of them in all. They're great for walking, horseback riding, running, and carriage driving.

The 13 Bridges Loop Trail will take hikers on these carriage roads on a spectacular and beautiful loop. You'll cross 13 bridges overall. In some places, they are right in a row.

In other places, the bridges stand alone.

Often, the bridges you cross will pass over water.

You can go under some of the bridges, too.

Many of the bridges are small.

But some of them are quite large.

Some of the bridges are rather short.

Others are quite long.

As you walk along this two-mile loop, you'll see waterfalls like this one.

You'll also see some beautiful stone walls that were built long ago.

There's also abundant wildlife in this preserve.

Rockefeller State Park Preserve and the 13 Bridges Trail are lovely at any time of the year. Plan a visit and a short hike today.
