Even at a time when many of the area's indoor facilities are limited or closed, there is still tons of fun to be had at places like the Wild Center, Little Wolf Beach, and Tupper Lake Municipal Park. Located in upstate New York, near High Peaks Wilderness, Tupper Lake is the perfect destination for anyone looking for an outdoor adventure utopia. Here are a few of our favorite highlights at a lake that's perfect for the whole adventure-loving family.
The Wild Center is one of the best-known destinations at Tupper Lake, where tourists can take in stunning views of the Adirondacks from the winding pathways of one of the best interactive and experiential exhibits in the state. While some indoor exhibits are currently closed, The Wild Center is still an ideal spot for exploration, learning about the region on guided tours and even canoe trips on the lake.
There's no better time than the fall to admire the Adirondacks from the Wild Center's Wild Walk, which features a four-story treehouse and rope bridges.
Come winter, check out the James C. Frenette Recreational Trails, a series of skiing and snowshoeing trails that connect the Tupper Lake Golf Club to the Tupper Lake Ski Area.
For all your outfitting needs, check out Raquette River Outfitters, not just for canoes and kayaks but for trip and route planning. It's a great spot to plan your best possible adventure.
Nestled right next to Raquette Pond, Tupper Lake Municipal Park is a great spot to relax, picnic, exercise and enjoy various lake activities.
There's no more serene place to stroll than Flander's Waterfront Walkway.
Campers headed to Little Wolf Campground have 50 great campsites to choose from at this beach and campground combination that is one of the most fun areas around Tupper Lake. Head here for basketball, volleyball, fishing and more.
If you decide to play 18 holes at Tupper Lake Golf Club, get ready to stellar views of Mount Morris and Big Tupper Lake.
Other parks and reserves in the area include High Peaks Wilderness, Sargent Pond Wild Forest, Five Ponds Wild Forest and Adirondack Park. But there aren't many areas of New York that have the diversity of activities and sheer beauty of Tupper Lake.
