Are you ready to experience one of the most breathtaking and unique landscapes in the entire state of New Mexico? Angel Peak Scenic Area, south of Bloomfield, is one of the most unique, fascinating, and mesmerizing places in the Land of Enchantment. However, this scenic area in New Mexico is more than just remarkable scenery; there are picnic areas, a campground, and so much more.

Angel Peak Scenic Area is no small piece of land. This area features more than 10,000 acres of rough, jagged, and incredible terrain.

This area is best known for the impressive and gorgeous Angel Peak. This 7,000-foot peak stands out in the Kutz Canyon Badlands and you can see it several miles away.

As you explore this scenic area in New Mexico, look for fossils as they are often found around the canyon. You may come across petrified wood in the Angel Peak Scenic Area as well.

Bring your hiking shoes and walk on the nature trail that takes you to an overlook of the canyon and Angel Peak. There is even a bench at the end of the trail where you can relax and get lost in the beauty of the area.

Spend a portion of your day at one of the three picnic areas. Here, you can eat lunch or just enjoy the beauty of this enchanting area.

Each picnic site includes a shelter, table, and fire grate. Large picnic areas are also available, allowing you to easily accommodate large groups.

Don’t be in a rush to leave Angel Peak Scenic Area. You can spend a few days at the campground in this scenic area. The campsites are next to the canyon rim and overlook Angel Peak and Kutz Canyon Badlands.

This campground features nine tent campsites with amenities that include picnic tables, fire grates, and vault toilets.
