The Gorgeous, Little-Known Lake Is One Of The Most Underrated Fishing Spots In New Jersey

Ah, fishing. Is there any more relaxing activity in summer? Not only is it easy to while away the day by the riverside or lakeside, waiting for that one significant bite, but you might just wind up taking home dinner in the process! Summer is a great fishing season - but the negative side of that is that a lot of other people think so too. So while places like Lake Hopatcong might live up to the hype in every way, there are times I'm just not up to competing for a spot there. That's why I love to head to a less-known fishing lake in New Jersey when the urge for anglin' hits me. One of my favorites is Hammonton Lake, found in the town of the same name. Not only is there a massive lake stocked with all varieties of game fish, but the area surrounding it is a wonderful little park with a small trail to enjoy. Read on to discover this little slice of paradise!

Hammonton Lake is a beautiful 75-acre lake that is home to some of the best fishing in New Jersey - it's regularly stocked with game fish.

It's also part of a small county park that's home to the Hammonton Lake Trail, a 1.9-mile loop trail with beautiful views.

This easy trail offers many quiet views of the water, plus dogs are welcome if they're on a leash.

This is an incredibly peaceful spot, and you'll get the chance to see many examples of local flora and fauna.

Most people will be for fishing - some of the favorite game fish here are catfish and crappie, but you also might find largemouth, perch, and rainbow trout during different seasons.

If you're taking a break, the trail is wonderful to explore during the hotter parts of the day.

The lake is busiest during the spring and summer, but it's a particularly beautiful spot worth a visit during the fall as well.
