Driving through New Hampshire on a beautiful day is its very own activity. Gather a friend or two, hop in the car, and take this road trip to see some of the most beautiful waterfalls in New Hampshire you can drive to. The best part is that this journey can be made in just one day. Or, if you have some extra time, you can spread things out to make for a weekend trip. The driving portion is relatively short so you'll be able to maximize your time outside, too. Check out the Google Map we made so you can follow this New Hampshire waterfall loop at your own pace.
1. Franconia Notch State Park, Lincoln
We begin our journey at one of the most wonderful state parks in New Hampshire - Franconia Notch State Park. This is a great place to meet friends who took multiple cars so you can all take just one. And, of course, stop and enjoy some of the many waterfalls here including The Basin, Cloudland, and Swiftwater. If you want to check out The Basin, then check out this Adventuring in the Moment video:
2. Beecher and Pearl Cascades, Carroll
One of the best features of the Beecher and Pearl Cascades is the hike to go and see them. Starting behind the Crawford Depot, the old train station right next to the Appalachian Mountain Club, you can begin your route by enjoying some history. Then, continue on the trail to see the stunning 35-foot waterfall.
3. Ammonoosuc Ravine, Sargent’s Purchase
This is a great place to get out and stretch those legs. Located in one of the most beautiful parts of the state, seeing this waterfall will take a little bit of effort. The hike to the Ammonoosuc Ravine is about 2.5 miles and it leads through some beautiful woods.
4. Arethusa Falls, Hart’s Location
The highest single-drop waterfall in New Hampshire might also be the most well-known. You've probably seen photos of this waterfall in every season of the year, but we love it most in the summer. The water is flowing, the sun is out, and this waterfall simply shines! Check out the hike to the falls. This waterfall is particularly stunning during the winter, check out this Adventuring in the Moment video for a closer look:
5. Jackson Falls, Jackson
Especially beautiful in the fall, Jackson Falls will be a welcome relief for folks who don't feel like hiking. You can see this one practically from the road, making it a great place to stop and enjoy a quick picnic or some snacks along the way.
6. Glen Ellis Falls, Jackson
This 65-foot waterfall is one of our favorites on this road trip. In fact, many people consider it to be one of the most beautiful in the entire state! Luckily, the hike to Glen Ellis Falls will only take you about 10 minutes. Also, check out this video from Adventuring in the Moment for a closer look at this beautiful waterfall:
7. Diana’s Baths, Bartlett
Another one of the most well-known natural wonders in the state, Diana's Baths makes for a great day trip all on its own. The pools and falls are fun for kids to splash around in and the smooth rocks are fascinating to see. Also, check out this Adventuring in the Moment video to see this waterfall for yourself:
8. Lower Falls, Albany
The next portion of our road trip takes us on the most lovely roadway on the Kancamagus Highway! The Lower falls along the Swift River can be found here and there's so much to enjoy!
9. Sabbaday Falls, Conway
And last up is another New Hampshire beauty. Easy to access and absolutely beautiful, this waterfall will let you reflect on a beautiful drive around the state!
