While it's hard to pick favorites, the Pitcher Mountain Trail in Stoddard is quite high on our list! Especially because it's a great hike for both kids and adults. Plus, it's perfect for hikers just starting out.
The route is a relatively flat .6-miles each way, which also means it won't take all day to complete.
The hike is really more of a walk, winding along small slopes and through fields.
It's a beauty year-round, whether the sun is out and the trees are green or the ground crunches with snow underfoot.
There's a lot to see on this trail, even before you make it to the actual view. We love the stream babbling its way through the woods. And in the winter there's a little extra calm and quiet.
When you're not in the woods, the unobstructed landscape means some of the most beautiful views in the state.

You'll be able to see all the way to Mount Ascutney and Mount Monadnock. Look extra carefully on a clear day! Some people claim to see as far as Killington in Vermont.
