The Little Known Hiking Path in Zephyr Cove Nevada is Our Favorite First Hike of the Year

When I need to reflect and think, I love to spend time in nature. Just hearing natural sounds like birds chirping or water flowing or the breeze blowing, brings a sense of peace. And after the hectic holiday, we all could use some tranquil time to prepare our minds for the year ahead. If you agree, then let’s head on this lesser-known hiking path in Zephyr Cove Nevada for an exhilarating hike through nature. 

One of the nice things about the Kingsbury Pines / Nevada Beach Loop is that you don’t need to put in a lot of effort for some pretty rewards. In fact, this 4.5-mile loop trail is mostly paved with flat dirt surfaces. 

This means you can enjoy a peaceful stroll on the path that meanders through the forest surrounded by gorgeous pines and aspens. As you trek, you will cross open meadows, footbridges, flowing creeks, large boulders, and more. But the best part about this hike is that there are several offshoot trails along the way. If you choose to go off-trail, be sure to have AllTrails+ downloaded on your phone so that you can have easy navigation. 

Because the trail leads to Nevada Beach, it’s a popular location during the warmer months. However, if you want the trail to yourself, now is the time to hike it. And if you get lucky, you might even end up finding a winter wonderland here. There’s nothing prettier than fresh snow on a trail in the wintertime. 

On your stroll, you will see stunning views of Lake Tahoe. Of course, I recommend that you sit peacefully on the beach while marveling at the snow-capped mountains. Between the pretty blue waters and the mountains, you will have no problems clearing your mind and reflecting on the year ahead. 

If you prefer to view the lake from above, there is a stunning overlook of the trail that will take your breath away. Grab a spot on one of the boulders and enjoy the peace and serenity of nature. Dogs are welcome on this trail as long as they are on their leash. But you may want to leave the pup at home and enjoy this leisure stroll by yourself. Exploring all the different landscapes along this trail will prepare you for whatever life will throw at you in the coming year.    

Pro Tip: Pay attention to the weather before you venture on this trail. If you plan on going after a snowfall, you will need to wear sturdy hiking shoes. Also, the best place to park is across the street at Kahle Park.
