Nevada is home to many beautiful lakes. Each lake offers its own list of attractions but many of the recreational activities on these lakes include water skiing, jet skiing, boating, and fishing. Listed below are nine beautiful lakes in Nevada that are definitely worth visiting this summer. There really is something magical about a visit to a Nevada lake.
1. Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe, located near Incline Village, is where Nevada meets California. This gorgeous lake just so happens to be North America's largest alpine lake and boating is its main recreational activity during the summer.
2. Lake Mead
Lake Mead is located on the Colorado River, approximately 24 miles from Las Vegas. When full, it's the largest reservoir in the United States. Popular recreational activities on Lake Mead include boating, fishing, water skiing, and swimming. During your visit to this lake, make sure to visit Sunset View Scenic Overlook, which is a little-known overlook that is truly too beautiful for words.
3. Angel Lake
Angel Lake, located in Elko County, covers 13 acres and is one of the area's most popular recreation sites. Angel Lake provides the perfect spot for fishing and is a summer destination the entire family will love.
4. Walker Lake
Walker Lake, located in Mineral County, is a natural lake that covers 38,000 acres and offers a variety of recreational activities such as swimming, boating, water skiing, picnicking, and camping.
5. Overland Lake
Overland Lake, located at the head of Overland Canyon, within the Ruby Mountains, covers 15 acres and is popular among fishermen and wildlife viewers.
6. Winnemucca Lake
Winnemucca Lake, located in northwest Nevada, is a dry lake bed that's home to many petroglyphs that were dated between 14,800 and 10,500 years ago — making them the oldest known petroglyphs to ever be found in North America.
7. Hidden Lakes
The Hidden Lakes, located within the Ruby Mountains, in Elko County, are a pair of glacial tarns that cover a combined nine acres. These lakes are absolutely BREATHTAKING!
8. Lamoille Lake
Lamoille Lake, located at the head of Lamoille Canyon, within the Ruby Mountains, covers 13.6 acres and is popular among hikers and fishermen.
9. Pyramid Lake
Pyramid Lake, located in Washoe County, about 35 miles from Reno, is a remnant of ancient Lake Lahontan and was once inhabited by the 19th-century Paiute Tribe.
