Five Different Planets Will Align In The Nebraska Night Sky During An Incredibly Rare Display
We love it when space decides to put on a stunning show for us. In March there is going to bring a particularly beautiful stargazing in Nebraska sight: a "Planetary Parade" where the five planets we can see in the dark sky will be all lined up. Seeing it is definitely a "wow" moment!
This March, you can look up into the sunset-hued sky to spot the five planets we can see from Earth with the naked eye - Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Uranus, and Mars - all lined up in a neat and tidy row.
You won't need any special equipment to see this planetary display, but binoculars or a telescope would help your chances of spotting these beautiful celestial elements.
It doesn’t just happen every day where you can look up in the sky at sunset in Nebraska and catch all five "naked-eye" planets aligned in order in full view.
They'll be arranged in the familiar orbital pattern we all know, which is what makes this event so special. The last time it happened was many years ago. If you engage in stargazing a lot, you will probably noticed that this year's display will seem to be much clearer and easier to spot because the planets will all appear closer to one another than usual.
While the planets will appear to be close together in the sky, they're still hundreds of millions of miles apart.
Whether you are a staunch aficionado or novice sky gazer, you definitely don’t want to miss this event. It will take place at sunset between March 25 and 30.
People have said that their first experience watching a planetary alignment was truly magical!
Be sure to not only grab any stargazing gear you have, but also your family, friends, and your neighbors. Go ahead and make it a fun and exciting community event!
You'll want to be sure to set yourself up in a spot as far away from any city lights as possible, and where you'll have a clear view of the horizon.
Luckily, Nebraska has tons of wide open spaces like these that will fit the bill!
Will you be going outside at sunset this month to see the special celestial display? Have you already seen it? We'd love to read about your experience in the comments section below!
