1. Indian Cave State Park, near Shubert

After you're done looking at the historic cave in this park, head to this overlook which provides a spectacular view of the wooded park and the Missouri River. If you can time your visit for sunset, you'll be richly rewarded with an almost magical golden glow.

2. Cowboy Trail Bridge, near Valentine

3. Observation Tower at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, near Ashland

4. Observation Tower at Platte River State Park, near Louisville

Not far from Mahoney State Park, Platte River State Park offers an even taller observation tower. At 85 feet, this climb isn't for the faint of heart, but the view from the top is just stunning. This picture of sunrise from the tower is beautiful beyond words.

5. Blackbird Scenic Overlook, near Decatur

Blackbird Hill has a long and storied history among the Omaha tribe. Chief Blackbird is buried here, and the hill is said to be the site of a haunting. There is a wonderful shelter with information about the site and the tribe, and the view of the Missouri River is spectacular.

6. Little Grand Canyon, near Wauneta

9. Overlook Trails, Scotts Bluff National Monument, near Gering

The monument has several trails from which to view the stunning surroundings. Hike one or hike them all, or take the shuttle both ways if you aren't up for hiking. However you get to the top, make sure to experience this one-of-a-kind view at least once.
