Here Is The Most Remote, Isolated Spot In Montana And It’s Positively Breathtaking

Discover the remote beauty of Montana by hiking to the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area, a journey that takes five days.

One of the best things about Montana is the sheer ability to get (purposely) lost. The Treasure State is one of the biggest, but also one of the least populated in the country. Therefore, there are a lot of beautiful and remote spots to get away from it all.

But if you’re looking for the most remote and isolated place that’s (somewhat) reasonably accessible, you’ll want to head to the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area.

The spot we speak of takes a whopping FIVE DAYS to reach by hike.

It was discovered by adventurers at Remote Footprints, a nonprofit organization dedicated to outdoor learning, including finding the most remote places in the United States.

Start at the Sun Fork Trailhead and hike westward for about 5 days into the center of the “Bob.”

Despite the long nature of this backpacking journey, it’s actually a relatively easy hike if you’re in good shape. The couple that wrote about their adventures had their four-year-old daughter with them!

You’ll see just about everything on your journey.

Deep forests, mountain views, hills, valleys, the Sun River, and remnants of past forest fires are all part of the trek.

The sunsets are beyond breathtaking.

City skylines have nothing on this.

On the fifth day (six if you like to take things slowly), you’ll hike up Rampart Mountain to the Remote Spot.

After several hours of uphill hiking (yikes!), you’ll come to the summit of Rampart Mountain. It doesn’t get much more remote than this.

You can turn around and head back, or spend a few days knowing that you’re many, many miles from the rest of humanity.

Need to get away from it all? This is how you do it.

Would you journey to the middle of nowhere to see Montana at its most natural? These pictures show just how colorful and visually stunning the Treasure State can be.
