Discover One Of Montana’s Most Majestic Waterfalls – No Hiking Necessary

There are over 120 known waterfalls in Montana, but many of them require quite a hike to reach. Of course, we all love Montana waterfall hikes, but what's even better than that? If you're in the Bozeman, Montana area, you'll find several waterfalls that require little to no hiking at all. Palisades Falls is one of the best waterfalls in Montana, and it's super-accessible!

Technically, there is a trail that leads to Palisades Falls. However, the Palisades Fall trailhead is only half a mile away from the falls. The "hike" is nice and wide and mostly paved, so it's a bit of a stretch to call it a hike!

To reach it, you'll take a left on Hyalite Canyon Road and cruise past the Hyalite Reservoir. At the fork, turn left and park at the signed trailhead for Palisade Falls.

After a short, easy walk, you'll come straight to the waterfall, which is beautiful and quite unique.

The waterfall is the result of prehistoric lava flow, and it is absolutely stunning to see up close.

Thick columns of ochre rock rise from the base of the falls to a ledge lined with trees.

It's really no wonder Montanans love this 80-foot waterfall so much.

It's beautiful, serene, and easy to reach. The trail is even wheelchair-accessible!

If you dare, you can head out to the area in the winter.

In fact, we highly recommend seeing the frozen falls at least once.

This entire area is gorgeous at any time of year.

There are plenty of places to stop and enjoy a picnic, should you decide to make a day of it.
