You’ve Never Seen Anything Like This Cave Hiding In Missouri

Onondaga Cave State Park in Missouri offers cool cave tours and scenic hiking trails.

Since the weather has been a bit of a roller coaster lately, why not visit a state park that, for the most part, always has a consistent temperature? At Onondaga Cave State Park, you can explore the inside of their caves which usually maintain a cool 57ºF.

Onondaga Cave State Park is a registered National Natural Landmark

There are two caves guests can explore, Onondaga Cave and the Cathedral Cave.

Guests can buy a visitor's pass for one of the caves or go with the combo deal.

Tour passes for the Onondaga Cave tour cost $15 for adults, $6 for children and free of charge for children under the age of 6. Cathedral tours are a bit cheaper and will run you $10 for adults, $8 for teens, $6 for children and free for children under 6. If you have time to visit both, I highly recommend taking advantage of the combo pass which will cost $20 for adults and $12 for children.

The Cathedral Cave Tour is a lantern tour and usually lasts two hours.

At Onondaga Cave, you'll pass through the "Lily Pad Room" where you will see rock formations that resemble lily pads in the water.

In addition to the cave tours, Onondaga has five outdoor trails that visitors can hike.

When the weather's warmer out, visit the gorgeous Onondaga Spring while exploring the park.

Missouri is home to over 6,500 recorded caves, earning its nickname as, "The Cave State." To see the best of what Missouri has to offer, take a trip and spend the day at this gorgeous state park.
