Or perhaps it's just the sheer beauty of the landscape that surrounds us. Trail Among The Trees, arguably one of the most enchanting hikes in Missouri, really is one of those trails that you just have to experience for yourself.
Trail Among The Trees meanders just under two miles through Rockwoods Reservation Conservation Area in Wildwood, and it promises an abundance of scenic beauty.
With its easy rating, the trail is popular with hikers of all ages and all skill levels. Unfortunately, due to stairs and some steep inclines, Trail Among The Trees is not ADA-accessible.
Bring your camera along for the picturesque hike that's really worth a visit in each of the four seasons. (It's especially pretty during the fall foliage.)
Pooches are permitted along the trail, which can get quite busy. The majority of the trail is either gravel or paved.
Hikers warn against straying off of the path as there is poison ivy among the foliage. You'll also pass the roots of trees (pictured below) and...
Cross footbridges. You might even catch sight of some of the local wildlife. Watch where you step, too, in case of box turtles waddling along the trail.
If you're not used to climbing stairs, they could prove a bit of a challenge. However, you have plenty of opportunities to take a break, including at the scenic bluffs.
Head over to the official website of Rockwoods Reservation for more information. You can also find a trail map on All Trails.
