The Sledding Park In Missouri That Will Make Your Winter Unforgettable

Art Hill in Forest Park, St. Louis, is a popular sledding destination during snowy seasons.

A fresh snowfall offers so much promise. We can cuddle up under the blankets with a hot drink as we watch the snow gently fall to the ground. Or we can head outdoors and savor every snowy moment on a hike, by making a snowman, or by zipping down our favorite sledding hill. This sledding park in Missouri is the place to be after it snows. If you've never been, make it a priority this snowy season.

Missourians and visitors flock to Forest Park in St. Louis all year round, but when the snow comes tumbling down? The magic begins.

Art Hill at Forest Park is a prime destination for sledding and has been for more than a century. It all started during the winter of 1905.

Workers from the World's Fair made their way to the hill in front of the Saint Louis Art Museum on a snowy day. They zipped down the hill on a sled, and a tradition was born.

Every winter, after a fresh snowfall, locals flock to the massive hill for a day of sledding.

You only need to bring a few things - a sled and a sense of adventure are the most important. You'll probably want to bundle up, too.

Zip down the hill as many times as you want, but be forewarned. Hay bales are used to protect riders from flying into the water by the fountain.

However - yep, there is a however - those hay bales don't always work, so you could still end up freezing cold and wet if the barrier fails.

While Art Hill might be the main attraction at Forest Park, you might also want to enjoy a winter stroll or glide around the ice at the park's Steinberg Ice Skating Rink.
