This Secluded Nature Trail In Mississippi Is So Worthy Of An Adventure
Clower Thorton Nature Area in Gulfport, Mississippi offers a short, family-friendly hiking trail perfect for a quick outdoor adventure.
Not every hiking adventure needs to be some grandiose expedition that ends in a panoramic view. While those certainly are some of our favorite hikes, hiking trails come in all shapes and sizes, and some of the best hiking trails are short and sweet, and they get the job done. If you're on the hunt for a quick and easy trail that you can knock out in an hour, then this secluded hiking trail in Mississippi is right up your alley.
The Clower Thorton Nature Area is a hidden gem over in Gulfport.
It's practically across the street from the beach, so it often gets overlooked in favor of sinking your toes in the sand.
The 17-acre nature area has a short and sweet loop trail that clocks in at around a mile, so it's easy to knock out in about an hour.
This secluded little trail is great for families with little ones, and it's pet-friendly too! Bring the whole family along for the adventure.
The trail switched from pavement to boardwalk along the way, and there are a few benches peppered along the trail where you can sit for a spell and enjoy the tranquility.
We wouldn't necessarily call it a waterfront hiking trail, but Coffee Creek runs straight through the nature area, giving you a glimpse of some aquatic life.
The area is perfect for birdwatching, with more than 200 species being documented here.
You might even spot some other wildlife along the way. Can you find the turtle in the image above?
