Beautiful sites are blooming all over the state, especially at the Strawberry Plains Audubon Center (SPAC) in Holly Springs. Encompassing thousands of acres, the nature sanctuary is brimming with beauty, complete with a wildflower meadow. Filled with vibrant colors and sweet fragrances it’s truly a spectacular site – one that’s sure to make your spring complete. Take a look:
The breathtaking wildflower meadow is just one of the amazing things you’ll find at the 3,000-acre nature sanctuary.
The SPAC also includes acres of hardwood forests, nature trails, and a hummingbird garden.
Each spring, the sprawling meadow comes to life with an array of boldly-colored flowers.
An old farm pasture, the meadow is prepared for the spring bloom throughout the year.
SPAC employees and volunteers maintain the area with controlled fires followed by seedings.
And the result is one of the most beautiful wildflower fields in the state.
The vibrant mixture of native wildflowers is often accompanied by hummingbirds and butterflies, so be sure to have your camera ready.
Getting to the wildflower meadow is easy thanks to the 15 miles of nature trails that run through the sanctuary.
Don’t feel comfortable hiking into the woods alone? No problem; guided hikes are available the second Saturday of every month, beginning at 9 am.
