From the Gulf Coast to Tishomingo State Park, Mississippi is full of natural wonders that highlight just how beautiful our natural landscape is. One of the most incredible natural wonders in Mississippi is found in the tiny town of Belzoni. Nicknamed "The Catfish Capital of the World," this tiny town may be known for catfish, but the real hidden gem is Sky Lake Wildlife Management Area, an incredible nature preserve with a boardwalk trail that will lead you through this beautiful area.
When you want to immerse yourself in some of Mississippi’s most stunning natural scenery, pay a visit to Sky Lake.
The boardwalk is open daily and free to all.
There are plenty of picnic benches and shaded spots to enjoy either before or after your hike.
Pack a lunch and make a day of it!
The 3,500-acre area has a boardwalk trail that’s about a mile long and will take you deep into the wetlands.
We love boardwalk trails. They give you access to areas you wouldn't normally be able to see, and this one really takes you deep into the forested wetland.
You'll be surrounded by enchanting emeralds and the symphony of sounds from songbirds in the trees.
With views like this, you may never want to leave!
The 1,735-foot boardwalk is kid-friendly, and informative signs along the way make it an educational experience for everyone.
The area is home to some of the oldest cypress trees on the planet! Some of these trees are thousands of years old.
Walking through this ancient forest is mesmerizing! Not only are these trees incredibly old, but they are HUGE! One of these giants measures over 45 feet in circumference!
