Summer in Mississippi starts when you make a splash. I know we’re still a few weeks away from summer, but the time to start planning your outdoor adventures is now! There are so many places to go swimming in Mississippi, including all of our epic state parks, but we all know that nothing can top a beach day! Did you know that Mississippi has 62 miles of scenic shoreline to enjoy? Biloxi Beach in Mississippi is easily one of the most iconic swimming areas in the Magnolia State, so make plans to spend a day here this summer.

Biloxi Beach is one of those iconic destinations that every Mississippian has visited at least once. It’s one of those places where you remember your parents taking you, and then you keep the tradition going and one day bring your own kids.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy Biloxi Beach is via the boardwalk. Both the Biloxi Beach Boardwalk and the West Beach Boardwalk offer a delightfully scenic stroll along the beach.

The coastline appears to stretch on forever. Pick a spot that speaks to you and set up shop—bring your own chairs and towels. I’d highly recommend bringing a beach umbrella, too. Beaches aren't known for their shade, and no one wants a nasty sunburn, so bring an umbrella.

We all know how hot Mississippi summers can be, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the day! Pack a cooler with a ton of ice, your favorite soft drinks, water, and some snacks. When I'm not floating in the water, one of my favorite things to do is to read a book with the sounds of the waves crashing nearby. It truly is my happy place!

Swimming, beach combing, and sunbathing are the name of the game here at Biloxi Beach. Just remember the typical beach rules: no glass, no loud music, and no pets.

Biloxi Beach is unique in multiple ways. While most beaches along the Gulf, especially in Alabama and Florida, are framed by high-rise hotels, that’s not the case here—majestic ancient oaks and mesmerizing historic homes accent Biloxi Beach. It adds a nice southern charm to an already beautiful beach!

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, too. The Beau Rivage and Hard Rock Casino are two iconic spots, but if you want something a little more off-the-beaten-path, swing by Parrain's Jambalaya Kitchen for some delicious Cajun fare, or Dem Dam Burgers for the best Southern comfort food (and burgers) you’ve ever had.

After you’ve splashed the day away, consider checking out the Beach Boulevard Scenic Byway. This is a fantastic stretch of highway that runs down the coast for about 13 miles and offers some of the best windshield views of Coastal Mississippi. And don’t forget to check out the iconic Biloxi Lighthouse while you’re in the area. The history (or should I say herstory) behind it is inspiring.
