Here in Minnesota, things are finally starting to cool down after a hot and humid summer. You may even be counting down the days to the winter chill. If you're part of the second group, you're going to love the latest predictions from the Old Farmer's Almanac. Take a look:

Snowbirds, you may want to stick around for this one. Keeping in line with recent years, it looks like we're in for another mild winter.

The Old Farmer's Almanac has released its predictions for the winter of 2017-2018, and they're favorable to anyone who has ever had the winter blues.

But just because we're in for a mild winter doesn't mean it won't be cold. The average low in November is 27 degrees Fahrenheit, but the mercury is expected to dip much lower than average in that month.

All in all, the coldest periods are expected to be late November, early and late December, and early January and February. In addition to November, December is looking a big drops in average temperatures.

But what about the snow? Well, you still live in Minnesota. There's going to be plenty of snow to shovel out of your way - or ski, snowboard, and sled in, if that's more up your alley.

However, snowfall will be lighter than average this year. Most of the winter will experience below average precipitation. There will likely still be a few big storms, though.

The snowiest period for the winter of 2017-2018 will be mid-to-late December, just in time for a white Christmas. Then, you may have to wait until mid February for another big snow.

The coming months may be more mild than usual, but it's still Minnesota. There will be plenty of temperature drops and snowfalls to remind you of where you live. So ready your snow boots and parkas, Minnesotans, because winter is coming.

Despite the mild predictions, we are still sure to get snow and cold this winter. Luckily, we Minnesotans are able to make the most of it with snow slides, winter festivals, and snow tubing.
