Hollow Rock in Grand Marais, Minnesota, is a stunning natural arch in Lake Superior, popular for its beauty and photography opportunities.

There are so many natural wonders waiting to be explored in Minnesota. From the Niagara Cave in southern Minnesota all the way to the Boundary Waters in the north, our state is full of incredible beauty. Some of it, though, takes beauty to a whole other level. Not far from the Lake Superior Shore, a rock formation known as Hollow Rock does just that.

Hollow Rock is a stunning natural arch in Lake Superior, just off the shore in Grand Marais.

It's best accessed from Hollow Rock Resort, a cozy spot great for taking in some peace and quiet.

But you don't have to stay at the resort to access the beach. The rocky expanse is open to the public, with amazing views of the rugged little island offshore.

The hole in the rock comes from thousands of years of erosion caused by the choppy waves of Lake Superior.

It's become a popular destination for photographers - or anyone with an appreciation for nature. With the waves and sky framed by the natural opening in the rock, you're sure to get an amazing shot.
