It’s almost impossible to be bored in Minnesota - especially if you love to be outside. With over 10,000 lakes, more than 60 state parks, and even a gorgeous national park, our state is full of outdoor recreation. Each of those things is wonderful, but they don’t even scratch the surface of all there is to do here. Today, we want to introduce not a state park but a municipal park that happens to be one of the best and most family-friendly places in Minnesota. With a zoo, a waterfall, hiking trails, and more, this family-friend park is one that anyone will love. Take a look:
Ramsey Park is a 256-acre park in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
This lively community is about 120 miles west of the Twin Cities, making it a great day trip - or even weekend trip - destination.
You’ll quickly see why the park is nicknamed the Little Yellowstone of Minnesota when you arrive. There is so much to see and do!
There is so much to see and do here that you could stay from sunrise to sunset.
If you enjoy animals, you’ll love visiting the Ramsey Park Zoo.
Many animals call this Minnesota zoo home, including bison, prairie dogs, peacocks, and more! The zoo is free to the public and even includes a goat feeding area.
Hiking is another popular activity in Ramsey Park.
There are four miles of paved hiking trails that include treks through shady wooded areas.
The trails also include beautiful views of the lovely Redwood River.
In Ramsey Park the river’s path is rocky and rugged, making this park feel just a little wild.
Of course, the most famous part of the river is the falls!
The 33-foot-tall Ramsey Park in Redwood Falls rushes into a rocky gorge. It’s a waterfall that many Minnesotans don’t know about. But it’s well worth visiting!
When you get hungry, head to one of the park’s picnic areas for lunch.
We recommend the Zeb Gray Overlook Shelter. With its impressive arched roof and amazing views of the river, it's a great place to enjoy a bite to eat.
Other interesting points in the park include scenic bridges, fishing spots, playgrounds, and even campsites.
With so much to offer, it’s hard to resist this awesome family-friendly park. We highly recommend paying it a visit!
Have you been to Ramsey Park? If so, what did you think? Which parts were your favorites? We'd love to read about your experience in the comments section below! To learn more about the park go to the official website or to the Redwood Falls Facebook page.
