Hart-Miller Island in Maryland offers a secluded beach experience accessible only by boat, ideal for relaxation and wildlife watching.

With tourists flocking to Maryland beaches during the summer, there aren't too many spots where you can get away and truly feel relaxed. Luckily, there is a new beach destination in the Old Line State, but here's the kicker - it's only reachable by boat. If you're able to make your way to this secret beach in Baltimore, Maryland, you'll truly feel a million miles away from it all. If you're familiar with Hart-Miller Island, then it may not seem like a secret to you, but plenty of Maryland residents are still unaware that this sandy beach exists.

Hart-Miller Island is an uninhabited island not too far from Baltimore. It welcomes visitors daily from 8 a.m. until sunset, unless you plan to spend the night.

After years of dredging, this newly restored slice of paradise is now open to the public. It's a popular spot for boaters and for wildlife watchers, who will discover a slew of wildlife, insects, and plants.

While this 1,100-acre island includes unique marshes, trails, and a pond, most head here for a day of complete isolation on the beautiful beach. The soft sand stretches 3,000 feet, offering plenty of space to relax away from other visitors on less busy days. Keep in mind, it can get more crowded on warm, sunny weekends.

There are also 22 campsites available in case you want to make it an overnight trip. If you want to camp on the secluded beach, make reservations ahead of time. The camping season runs from May 1 to September 30 annually.
