This Maryland Park Has Endless Boardwalks And You’ll Want To Explore Them All
Assateague Island offers year-round beach access and picturesque boardwalk trails that are perfect for all ages.
Beach season will soon be over (sigh... I know, it's sad), BUT that doesn't mean that you have to stop exploring Maryland's beaches. Nearly all of them are open year-round so you can still still enjoy the sights, no matter the weather. The following park is well known but most people head straight to the sand and neglect the nature trails. Today we're highlighting what makes these boardwalk trails so great, so next time you're in the area, you'll make sure to experience them for yourself.
Most people head to Assateague Island for the white sand beaches...
...and to hopefully catch sight of the wild horses.
But did you know that Assateague Island has so much more to offer, including a handful of nature trails?
If you head to Maryland's National Park side, you have the option to hike the Dunes Trail, Forest Trail, and Marsh Trail.
The Forest Trail and Marsh Trail have particularly picturesque boardwalk treks (while the Dunes Trail is nearly ALL sand).
Read more about the Dunes Trail in a previous article here.
Each of the trails is a half mile in length, making them perfect for any age, young or old. And WOW are the views spectacular.
You may even spot kayakers taking in the beauty as well.
Although we love the miles of beaches as Assateague, we also know that's just ONE thing that makes this place spectacular. Explore as much of it is you can. You won't be sorry.
