You May Not Like These Predictions About Maine’s Brutally Snowy Upcoming Winter

The Farmers' Almanac predicts a frigid winter with higher-than-average snowfall for Maine in 2023-2024.

I know, I know. We're not yet done with summer and we're already talking about winter. We're not happy about it either. But, there's no avoiding that we're headed in the direction of the cold and, like all good things, the sun and warmer temps must soon come to an end. While we all hope that end comes much later than we expect, the reality is that winter might be a bit more brutal than we'd like this year. The revered Farmer's Almanac has released their 2018 winter predictions of Maine and...well, it's not looking good.

The Farmers Almanac is the go-to source for what to expect in our weather each year and they've just released the long-awaited information for December, January, February and March in Maine.

And, Mainers, it's not looking for for those of us who hate the snow.

Start preparing for what is expected to be a very snowy winter.

But, the good news is that temperatures are likely going to range from normal to higher-than-normal, which means we can leave the house without dressing like an L.L. Bean mannequin.

In fact, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is saying that temperatures in Maine will be about 33% higher than average this winter.

But, the reasonable temperatures are expected to bring snowfall that surpasses what we've seen in the recent past.

Those looking forward to the snow will be especially happy around January 20-23rd, February 4-7th & 16-19th, and March 1-3rd & 20-23rd when snow along the entire Atlantic Seaboard is expected to be heavy.

So, you might want to plan your trips to Saddleback, Sugar Loaf or Sunday River to coincide with those dates now!

In reality, though, Mainers are pretty tough when it comes to the winter.

If you want to test exactly HOW tough, make sure you're in Maine for what is expected to be the coldest month of the winter - November.

Temperatures are predicted to be at least 5 degrees BELOW the average for a typical November.

To make things just a little bit harder, November is also set to be the snowiest with at least 2 inches MORE snow than we typically see then.

The good news? We're Mainers and we're able to see the beauty through it all.
