Tunica Hills Is An Incredible Spot In Louisiana That Will Bring Out Your Inner Explorer

Tunica Hills Wildlife Management Area offers scenic trails and diverse wildlife in a remote part of Louisiana.

Sometimes you just need to unplug and get lost in nature for a bit. When the urge to splurge on a day of outdoor adventure strikes, consider heading over to the Tunica Hills Wildlife Management Area, one of the most scenic spots in Louisiana. This incredible spot has miles of trails that will bring out the inner explorer in you. Let’s check it out.

You’ll find the Tunica Hills Wildlife Management Area in the rolling hills of beautiful St. Francisville.

It’s such a remote area of Louisiana, you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away from everything.

The area is broken up into two separate tracts: the North Tract (2,346 acres) and the South Tract (4,156 acres).

All together that’s over 6,000 acres of beautiful scenery to explore.

The terrain at Tunica Hills might just be some of the most unique in the state.

Rugged hills, bluffs, and “steep” ravines pepper the landscape. Quite the change of scenery from the swampy marsh trails in much of the state.

In addition to hiking, Tunica Hills is a popular attraction for all types of wildlife enthusiasts including hunters, trappers, and bird watchers. Deer, turkey, fox, and even bobcats are just a few of the animals that call Tunica Hills home. You might even catch a glimpse of the elusive Louisiana Black Bear!

For the epic explorers, bring your tent and spent a night or two sleeping under the stars. There’s primitive camping available in the camping area off Parker Road on the South Tract.

But even if you only have an afternoon to spend, there's plenty to explore to fill up your day!
