When the temperatures heat up, you've got to find ways to cool down, and what better way to beat the heat than splashing around in the water? Tucked away in the tiny town of Homer lies Lake Claiborne State Park, and the lake is the perfect little slice of paradise to spend your summer days. Who knows, it might just become your new favorite swimming hole! There's plenty to do at this awesome little state park, so let's take a closer look:
With over 600 acres to explore, Lake Claiborne State Park is one of the most underrated state parks in the Louisiana State Park System.
Every acre of this secluded state park is simply mesmerizing.
There are over 10 miles of hiking and biking trails to explore, as well as two of the top-rated disc golf courses in the state.
One of the most popular attractions of the park is, of course, Lake Claiborne.
The cool, refreshing waters of the 6,400-acre lake are ideal for beating the heat on a summer day.
There's also a little stretch of sand that's calling your name.
Sink your toes in the sand and enjoy the scenery!
And don't worry about any boats or kayaks getting in your way while you're floating around; the designated swim area is protected from watercraft, so you can float on without a care in the world!
There are plenty of picnic tables peppered around the lake, too.
So you can relax underneath the shade of towering pine trees and fuel up in between splashing around in the water.
You may even find yourself loving it so much, you want to extend your stay!
Primitive campsites, RV hook-ups, and cabin rentals are all available if you'd like to spend a day or two immersed in some of the state's most beautiful natural scenery.
No matter how you spend your time on the water at Lake Claiborne State Park, one thing is for sure: memories will be made!
Lake Claiborne State Park is open seven days a week, from sunrise to sunset. As with all state parks, admission is $3.00.
