The Serenity Of Lake Martin In Louisiana Is Ideal For A Fall Day

Lake Martin in Breaux Bridge offers stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, and various ways to explore its natural beauty.

Located in Breaux Bridge, Lake Martin is every nature lover’s paradise. Part of the Cypress Island Preserve, the lake is a perfect place to spend a day exploring some of the most beautiful scenery around. So next time you’re looking for a change of scenery, head on over to Cajun Country where you’ll be met with beautiful views, tons of wildlife, and some truly stunning sunsets.

There’s a lot to love about Lake Martin.

This swampy ecosystem has a little something for everyone.

It’s one of the largest texting colonies for water birds and is home to beautiful birds like the anhinga, blue herons, egrets, spoonbills, and more.

But that’s not the only wildlife that calls the area home. When you visit, you’ll probably end up spotting several alligators, turtles, nutria, and other swamp critters.

One of the best features of the lake is all the different avenues you have to see it. If you’d prefer to stay in the car, you can see the lake via Rookery Road, but there’s also a levee trail that’s great for exploring the lake on foot.

But the absolute best way to see the lake is via a boat.

You can launch your canoe or kayak into the lake to do a little solo exploration, or you can go on a swamp tour, which we would highly recommend!

Swamp tours are a great way to learn about Louisiana’s wetlands, and these swamp boats allow you to access parts of the water you just wouldn’t be able to get to any other way.

But even if you're just looking for a quiet place to sit for a spell, you can't go wrong with Lake Martin.

If you can, stick around until sunset when you'll have a front-row seat to a spectacular sunset that'll reflect perfectly off of the calm waters of the lake. Pure perfection!
